1,2-Dimethyl-5-nitroimidazole is mainly used as a veterinary antibacterial drug and is the preferred medicine for preventing and treating pig dysentery. It can also be used as a feed additive to promote the growth of poultry and livestock, and is used in small amounts in daily chemical industry.
